Meet Arthur K.

For 12 years, Arthur worked as an instructional aide in classrooms, supporting students in general and special education in grades K through 8. During that time, he was also a private tutor, working with families who had children with special needs. He has a foundation of ABA training, which he uses in his tutoring through task analysis and data tracking to monitor when students master skills.

In college, Arthur was a TA for Sociology and a writing tutor, helping students write essays in a variety of subjects. He is currently in the process of earning his Master's in Special Education Teaching and is taking his final class. This program has deepened his understanding of math and reading interventions.

In the past four years, Arthur has worked as a special education teacher and resource specialist. He has adapted and implemented a variety of curriculums up to the 8th grade level. He understands how to assess students and review their IEPs to identify their areas of need, and then uses evidence-based practices to gradually build their skills in those areas.

Arthur believes that the success he has experienced with tutoring comes from his ability to build meaningful relationships based on mutual respect, implement systems of reinforcement, creatively scaffold material, and use data to guide future tutoring sessions.
