Meet Hirsch P.

Hirsch has close to fifteen years of experience working with students in both one-on-one and classroom settings. His tutoring experience includes eight years as a private tutor, three years at Huntington Learning Center in Fremont, three years teaching with Engineering for Kids throughout the Bay Area, and a semester as a teaching assistant at West Valley College. He has worked with students ranging from elementary school through college and has taught mathematics, science, English, and technical subjects including architecture, drafting, AutoCAD, and Revit.

What he enjoys most about tutoring is getting to know each student as an individual and figuring out how they learn best. He does not believe there is one teaching method that works for everyone. Some students need concepts broken down into smaller steps, while others benefit from visual explanations, practical examples, repetition, or simply having someone patient enough to hear them verbalize their thought process through a difficult problem. He adapts his approach based on the student's needs, personality, and current level of understanding.

His goal is also to help students become increasingly confident and independent. Rather than simply giving a student the answer, he tries to understand where their reasoning breaks down and guide them toward finding the solution themselves. Over time, he works to identify recurring gaps in a student's knowledge, strengthen those foundations, and then gradually introduce more challenging material as their confidence grows. He sees tutoring as a process of growing alongside a student, not just helping with the homework or test immediately in front of them, but helping them develop the skills and confidence to tackle future challenges on their own.

The relationships he has built with students over the years have been one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring. Several students have worked with him for multiple years and have gone on to refer their siblings and friends.
