Meet Marisa K.

From 2021 to 2023, Marisa worked as a research assistant in psychology labs focused on learning, development, and disabilities, where she supported children in both group and one-on-one settings. This experience deepened her understanding of diverse learning needs and strengthened her communication and adaptability skills.

Currently, Marisa serves as a substitute teacher at a curriculum-based early learning center located on the Stanford University campus, working with children from infancy through six years of age. While she hasn't created curriculum herself, she regularly assists with implementing lesson plans across classrooms and age groups, adapting activities to meet each child's developmental needs. This role has further enhanced her ability to support learners in dynamic environments and collaborate effectively with both educators and families.

In addition, Marisa has completed a tutoring course that equipped her with practical strategies to help students succeed—not only in specific subjects and academic planning, but also in identifying their reasons for seeking support and shaping that into their broader academic goals.

Building on years of informal experience supporting peers during her undergraduate studies and beyond, Marisa is confident in her ability to help students improve their academic performance and communication skills.
