Meet Joanne L.

At North Davis Elementary School, Joanne clarified fundamental math concepts and taught basic technology skills to a class of 32 fifth graders. Topics she tutored included long division, fraction operations, basic geometry, and Google Workspace. Her efforts aided students with their classwork and boosted students' exam scores and confidence in math. Students quickly grasped concepts and patterns and were soon able to complete classwork problems independently and quickly.

At the BioInnovation Group at UC Davis, Joanne taught students technology management frameworks to guide them on their assigned process improvement projects. She also provided feedback on assignments, responded to questions via text and email, and referred them to key contacts that could help them in their projects. As a result, all of the students became proud of the solutions they generated at the end of the quarter.

At RePicture, Joanne hosted Zoom meetings with students to review their progress in the STEM Career Accelerator program, clarify assignment instructions, and offer career and college mentorship. She also provided feedback on students' resumes and networking letters and responded to student inquiries via email and Slack. As a result of her work alongside the RePicture team, 100% of participants who provided feedback at the end of the program stated that they would recommend the program to a friend and rated the program an average of 4.6/5 stars.
