Meet Julia O.

Julia's love for teaching children began in high school where she worked with Reading Partners as a tutor for 2 years, a camp counselor in several summer camps, a tennis coach, and as a nanny. Those experiences helped cement her desire to become a teacher and she earned her college degree in Early Childhood Education from TCU in Fort Worth, TX. During college, she spent 10 months as a student teacher in the Fort Worth Public Schools and worked as a summer school teacher each summer. She then began her career after college as a second-grade teacher at the American Preparatory Academy Charter School in Draper, Utah. She also worked as a substitute teacher in both the Salt Lake City School District and at the Waterford School in Sandy, Utah.

Julia's teaching philosophy focuses on fostering joyful learning. When she was a young student, she often found it difficult to focus on lessons that she thought were uninspiring and boring. However, she vividly remembers the teachers who brought learning to life through engaging, hands-on activities. They made learning fun, and that's exactly the kind of teacher she strives to be. She aims to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in her students!
