Meet Leah T.

Leah served as an EFL Teacher with the Peace Corps in Ambohimaha, Madagascar, where she taught four English classes of 50+ students each in a low-resource high school. She designed and implemented engaging lesson plans to accommodate varied proficiency levels within large classrooms, and founded and managed two extracurricular English clubs to promote language practice outside the classroom. She also provided weekly individualized tutoring sessions for eight students to support accelerated learning.

As an EFL Civics Teacher Assistant with the International Rescue Committee in San Diego, California, Leah assisted three adult EFL civics classes with 5-12 students per class. She administered and graded pre- and post-assessments to measure language progress, and led civics exam preparation reviews while developing interactive learning games to support memory retention.

Leah also worked as an English tutor for Ukrainian refugees with ENGin, delivering one-on-one English tutoring sessions to Ukrainian students affected by war, with a focus on spoken and written communication. She completed three hours of trauma-informed training to effectively support students' emotional needs.
