Meet Paul M.

Paul has been tutoring English one-on-one since high school. It was his main job as an English major during college. After graduating from college, he moved to Seoul, Korea, where he taught English and writing to K-12 students and adults. During his first two years of grad school at UT Austin, he began working as a writing tutor in the writing center and teaching English literature to first-year students at UT Austin. During the next five years, he worked as an Instructor at UT Austin, teaching his own class that he designed. He also tutored high school students in writing and English literature during the summers.

In 2003, Paul moved to South Bend, IN, where he tutored Korean American middle school and high school students one-on-one, while assisting seminarians at Notre Dame with revising their sermons. He also taught first-year composition to students at Notre Dame.

In 2006, Paul moved to San Diego, CA to begin his tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor at San Diego State University, where he taught Rhetoric and Writing Studies courses to undergraduate and graduate students until 2020. During that time, he also continued tutoring Korean American students one-on-one during a few summers.

In 2023, Paul began teaching first-year writing to students at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he currently teaches.
