Meet Shay N.

Shay genuinely enjoys tutoring. She is currently at Stanford for a research year, between her third and fourth year of medical school. She values opportunities where she can work directly with students, make a meaningful impact, and maintain flexibility.

Shay has over four years of experience tutoring students in a variety of subjects, including ESL, both in person and online. During COVID, she conducted regular remote tutoring sessions, which required adapting lessons to virtual formats and maintaining student engagement online. She is comfortable using online teaching platforms and tools such as video conferencing software, screen sharing, digital whiteboards, and shared documents.

In addition to tutoring, Shay's experience as a Division I soccer player, Special Olympics coach, and current medical student has strengthened her communication skills, patience, and ability to teach and motivate learners of different ages and abilities. She is confident these skills translate well to online tutoring with middle school students.
