Meet Xindong Z.
Xindong served as a UGIA for Metabolic Biochemistry, assisting students with questions during class, leading his own discussion sections of 100+ people, and hosting weekly meetings with the professor to help communicate student worries. Students often struggled understanding complex pathways. He learned that students come from different educational backgrounds, so approaching each question by connecting smaller fundamental concepts to a bigger picture allowed him to broaden his range of teaching while remaining effective for all students.
Xindong has also served as an independent English and Writing tutor for a special needs student in the 3rd grade. After many weekly sessions, he was able to help them significantly improve their grades as well as their love for learning. They were later awarded the Most Improved Student award for their grade.
