Meet Tami C.

Tami was a First Grade teacher for two years and taught all subjects. She constantly adjusted lessons to meet the various levels of ability in the classroom and worked very hard to make it possible for all the students to succeed. She developed a rigorous reading program enabling each student to learn to read and gave them the opportunity to read as many books as they were able, igniting an excitement and passion for reading. She was also selected to help create the K-12 gifted and talented program in her district.

Tami was a classroom volunteer in the elementary schools her own children attended. She tutored groups and individuals in reading, writing and math. Currently, she is a homeschool teacher, teaching her eighth grade son, but at one point she homeschooled all three of her boys.

One of her favorite things they did together was participate in a classical based language arts class. Her very active boys, who did not enjoy writing, actually excelled and looked forward to writing when they were taught how to do it by following the structured program. They also loved memorizing the parts of speech and their definitions and learning vocabulary through songs, repetition, creative actions and competitive games. They even looked forward to diagramming sentences!

Tami is a kind, patient, understanding but firm tutor who deeply cares for each child she works with. She enjoys assessing how a student learns best and loves helping them excel and overcome challenges to succeed.
